The Office of Academic Affairs creates,
supports, and enhances a student-centered
academic environment which frames the
university's mission and vision. It is the
administrative center which drives the
academic enterprise at GCSU. Responsible to
the president of the university, it has three
primary roles:
Leading. The Office of Academic
Affairs working with academic leaders and
faculty articulates an academic vision for
the university, sets the overall academic
direction of the university, and establishes
the academic agenda for the future.
Facilitating. Through its role in the
establishment of programs, policies,
procedures, and standards; in the selection,
evaluation, and development of faculty and
staff; in the review of academic programs; in
the allocation of funds; and in the provision
of information, it facilitates the
accomplishment of the university's mission
and its academic goals.
Coordinating. It sets a context for
the University's various academic schools,
programs, and services - maintaining a broad
and coherent institutional perspective, so
that the needs and character of individual
programs are addressed within an
institutional framework.
