Newly Admitted Students

Congratulations on your admission to Georgia’s Public Liberal Arts University.

Please follow the enrollment steps below if you are a returning, transient, second undergraduate, non-degree seeking, post-baccalaureate, or non-traditional freshman student. If you are a transfer student, please view the New Transfer Admit page

Getting Started at Georgia College

1: Set up your account

Your PAWS account will allow you to pay your confirmation and housing deposits, print your schedule, find your advisor, access financial aid awards, pay for your classes, view course offerings and much more!

Part 1: Set Up Student Account

  1. Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu/
  2. Select the “MyPassword” tab along the top bar
  3. Select “Set Initial Password” to enroll in the system by setting up your password
  4. Refer to your acceptance packet for your GCID number and GC email address or application status portal
  5. Complete the information and select submit

Part 2: Enroll in DUO Authentication

  1. Navigate to Unify (http://unify.gcsu.edu/), but do not log in
  2. Select the “DUO Enroll” tab located near the top right of the screen.
  3.  Enter your student credentials.
  4. Follow the steps to install and enroll in DUO.
  5. When you reach the screen that verifies your successful enrollment, please press “Logout.”

2: Academic Advising

Returning/Post-Baccalaureate/2nd Undergraduate Seeking/Non-Traditional Freshman Students:

Students should contact the Advising Center to set-up an appointment to meet with their faculty adviser to discuss registering for classes.

Transient/Non-Degree Seeking Students:

Academic advisement is not required: students should seek assistance from the University Registrar at 478-445-6286 if they have problems registering for a class.

3: Submit a Housing Contract and $235 Deposit (optional)
  • Visit https://unify.gcsu.edu/
  • Enter your GC email address and Unify password
  • Click on the OneUSG Connect DUO icon and follow the instructions to download the mobile phone application
  • Click on the “Service Apps” tab at the top of the screen
  • Click on the “Housing Application” icon (icons are in alphabetical order)
  • If the application does not open, you will need to allow pop-ups for the site
  • Click the “Housing Application” link at the top of the screen
  • Select the term that you are applying for and follow the on-screen instructions

4: Complete the final steps

Other final steps include:

  1. Complete the FAFSA and/or GSFAPPS by July 1 (November 1 for spring admitted students)
  2. Provide Verification of Lawful Presence by July 1 (December 1 for spring admitted students)
  3. Complete your certificate of immunizationemergency contact form, and special assistance request (found in admission packet)
  4. Request your final college transcript(s) to be sent to Georgia College. Official copies should be sent to admissions@gcsu.edu or GC Office of Admissions, Campus Box 023, Milledgeville, GA 31061
  5. Student E-mail: Your email account is considered the official mode of communication between GC faculty, administration and students. Check your email account every day for important information. Your e-mail address should be activated within 3 business days after acceptance. Please follow the steps to set up your e-mail:
  • Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu
  • Select "Student GMAIL" icon located on the main page
  • Enter your bobcats e-mail address (located in your acceptance letter)
  • Select "Next" and follow the steps to set up your e-mail account

1: How do I use Unify to find classes?
  • Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu/
  • Enter your GC email address and Unify password
  • Access PAWS from the third tab at the top or from the PAWS icon under the student tab
  • Choose “Main Menu” tab
  • Select “Semester Course Schedules” link
  • GC Class Schedules Choices” page will appear
  • You may search for specific terms, subjects, class times, instructors and locations by choosing options in the drop down menus.

2: How do I use Unify to register for classes?
  • Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu/
  • Enter your GC email address and Unify password
  • Access PAWS from the third tab at the top or from the PAWS icon under the student tab
  • Choose “Student Services” tab
  • Select “Add or Drop Classes
  • Select “Registration
  • Check the “I agree” box (please read the statement before moving forward)
  • Select “Continue to Registration” button
  • Choose intended entry term
  • Add your course CRN number(s) or search for desired courses

3: How do I use Unify to view my class schedule?
  • Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu/
  • Enter your GC email address and Unify password
  • Access PAWS from the third tab at the top or from the PAWS icon under the student tab
  • Choose “Student Services” tab
  • Select “GCSU Printable Schedule
  • Select “Registration
  • Select intended entry term
  • Select “Submit Term” button

4: How do I use Unify to view my holds?
  • Visit http://unify.gcsu.edu/
  • Enter your GC email address and Unify password
  • Access PAWS from the third tab at the top or from the PAWS icon under the student tab
  • Choose “Student Services” tab
  • Select “Student Records
  • Select “View Holds

If holds exist, you should contact the appropriate department with questions and concerns.
