Cool Achievers
The Cool Achievers addressed local and global poverty concerns by hosting a community event to collect food, clothes, books and money for those in need in both Milledgeville and Haiti. The group planned "A Day in the Park for Haiti & Milledgeville." The Cool Achievers prepared for their event by seeking support from local businesses and organizations. They learned how to write professional letters, make phone calls to concisely explain their goal and request help, and how to write a script for a television commercial. They advertised the event in their school and neighborhoods. The event included games, face painting, refreshments, music, dancing, and accepting contributions of money and items that the group passed on to local charitable organizations. The Cool Achievers realized what public achievement truly means through their efforts.
