Candidate Forum 1

The Student Activities Center Magnolia Ballroom was the venue for the second in a series of political candidate forums organized by student organizations, the Department of Government & Sociology and the American Democracy Project. An audience of 170 listened to the candidates answer five questions prepared by student organizations and another five posed by audience members through a Twitter feed. A straw poll concluded the event with Garry Gerrard winning with 29% followed by Steven Simpson, 26%, Mike Collins, 22%, Jody Hice 16%, and Brian Slowinski, 5%.

The Community Choices, Your Voices candidate forum series will continue in the new year as we invite Georgia candidates running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Saxby Chambliss.

Milledgeville, GA Candidate Forums

Student organizations, the Department of Government & Sociology and the American Democracy Project invite the public and the campus to a Milledgeville City Council and Mayoral Candidate Forum on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Activity Center's Magnolia Ballroom.

Georgia U. S. Senate Candidate Forums

Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss announced that he will not run for re-election in 2014. Republican and Democratic candidates have announced their intention to run for his seat. The American Democracy Project in collaboration with the Department of Government & Sociology and several student organizations is planning a series of Georgia College open forums for candidates to dialogue with the campus and Milledgeville communities.
