EATONTON, Ga. – With three individuals in the top-10 to help them lead throughout, the University of West Florida men’s golf team won the 2008 Bobcat Invitational today (March 24) at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla.
UWF shot a 291-288-295=874 on the par-70, 6,847-yard course, besting runners-up Sonoma State University and Columbus State University by 29 strokes. Rounding out the top-five were Valdosta State University in fourth and USC Aiken in fifth.
UWF’s Tobias Rosendahl took individual top honors, despite not having a low round among his 70-71-71=212. The runner-up slot went to SSU’s Jarin Todd, at four strokes behind Rosendahl. Florida Southern College’s Judson Eustaquio was third, while USCA’s J.P. Solis finished fourth.
Sophomore
Francisco Bide (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
led the host GCSU Bobcats to a ninth-place finish, himself also tying for ninth. He carded a 71-71-73=221. Freshman
Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) was 30th (74-81-75=230) and
Kyle Collins (Milledgeville, Ga.) 54th (83-80-74=237). Senior
Juan Bialet (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and
sophomore Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden)
each posted 238 for 59th. Bialet shot 76-80-82, and Johansson steadily improved with 82-79-77.
The field had eight players competing as individuals from five different teams. GCSU’s
Billy Shida (Bleakley Lake, Ga.) led the bunch with an 83-70-73=226, good for 18th.
The Bobcats are back in action April 7-8 at the Emerald Coast Collegiate in Pensacola, Fla. hosted by West Florida.
