Information for GCSU Students who are interested in performing with the GCSU band:
We have a great band program here at GCSU, because of dedicated and talented students like you that want to continue their musical experience at the university level. Here is what you have to do to become a member of the band program here at GCSU: When you register for classes you look under "Music Ensembles" You will see two listings for each ensemble. The lower number is for first and second year students, the higher number is for third year and higher students. You can register for Concert Band and Jazz Band, no audition is required for either group. However, you must be a member of the GCSU Concert Band to be a member of any other ensemble. We have part auditions for each group during the second week of classes. If there are any conflicts with your schedule, please contact Dr. Shiver and we will work something out. The GCSU Pep Band holds auditions during the last week in October. You must be in Concert Band to audition for Pep Band. Each member of the Pep Band receives a $250 stipend, to play at every home men's and women's home basketball game plus the Peachbelt basketball tournament.
