1. How do I find out who my advisor is?
Check your tranguide on PAWS. To do this, log on to PAWS and select Student & Financial Aid, Student Records, and GC Tranguide. Under the heading of Academic Information you will find your current major and the name of your advisor. For most business majors, incoming freshmen and graduating seniors are advised by the College of Business Student Resource Center.

2. How do I locate my faculty advisor? The Accounting, Economic & Finance and Management Departments are located on the 4th floor. The Department of Information Systems & Computer Science as well as the Department of Marketing are both located on the 3rd floor. There is a list of faculty office numbers next to the elevators, or check with the departmental secretary. Many faculty also have websites. There is a link on MYCATS for faculty websites. The College of Business Student Resource Center is 205 Atkinson Hall.

6. How do I calculate my GPA?
Your GPA is calculated by dividing quality points by the number of GPA hours. Flyers are available in the Registrar’s Office and in the Advisement Center that tell you how to compute GPA.

7. What is the best way to raise my GPA?
Retaking courses which you have failed or made a “D” in is the quickest way to raise your GPA. But remember, the most recent grade prevails, so if you are repeating a “D” and get an “F”, your grade will be “F”. You should make an appointment with your advisor to work out a course of action to improve your GPA.

8. How do I change my major?
If you are a College of Business major and wish to change your major to another school, you should contact the department of your desired major in that school. For example, if you are an Accounting major and wish to change to Math, you would visit the Math Department which is located in the school of Arts & Sciences.  If you are a College of Business major and want to change majors within the College of Business, visit the department of the NEW major.

11. How do I know what courses taken at other colleges can be used to satisfy my degree requirements at GC?
In PAWS, go to Degree Works. This program report will show you where classes from other schools count at GC.  Courses related to your major that are brought in as electives will have to be evaluated by the  related discipline department chair to determine equivalency. For example, an Accounting course would be evaluated by the  Accounting chair. You must provide a course description and  sometimes a syllabus as well.

12 . How do I take a course at another school?
You will need to complete a Transient Request Form. This form must be signed by your advisor, the Chair of the department of your major, and the Admission’s office, and must be completed before you take the class.
