Networking Event

The Spring Alumni and Student Networking Event was held in Atlanta on Monday, April 1, at the West & Mill Bistro Bar located in west midtown.  Approximately 15 alumni and 30 College of Business graduate and undergraduate students attended the event.  The students and alumni enjoyed meeting each other and networking while enjoying the delicious hors d’oeuvres provided.  Door prizes were generously supplied by alumni and Advisory Board members and handed out to lucky students.

 

General Motors Connects with Georgia College

From April 22 to April 24, the Georgia College W.E.T. Shades of Green 2013 Symposium brought an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability by bring businesses and government agencies’ experts to campus for panel discussion. Araba Dowell, Group Regional Manager of Communications for General Motors came back to GC this year and brought two of GM’s energy efficient vehicles to campus for test-drives. While on campus, she spoke to an audience of mostly College of Business students about GM’s sustainability efforts and shared tips on how to get interviews with companies like GM. She joined the Information Systems and Computer Science faculty and masters students on the evening of the 22nd to discuss GM’s new Roswell, Georgia technology facility and its significance to Georgia. Araba left a Chevy Volt with Dr. Sams to test drive over the following week. Dr. Sams was most impressed with the 98 miles per gallon experienced by her while driving it, its pickup, and its comfortable passenger compartment.
