Liberal Arts Master of Business Administration

Why Choose the Liberal Arts MBA Program?

As a student in the arts or sciences, you have developed skills for logical arguments, the ability to integrate theory, and the cognitive ability to look at issues from multiple perspectives. In our MBA for the non-business graduate, we focus on the practical reasoning aspect of critical thinking and a classical liberal education. This degree program gives you the business and organizational skills to make your passions a reality.

When I worked in the nonprofit sector after college, I was painfully aware of how little I knew about accounting and business. I spent a lot of time educating myself—using the lifelong learning skills I had developed as a humanities undergraduate. The value of this MBA program is that you do not have to invent the wheel on your own—and you will be in the company of other students who come from non-business undergraduate degree programs.

You will graduate with an MBA, and the core knowledge and skills to be successful in any organization: business, nonprofit, or public service. You will also have your own business plan to start your own venture, whatever that may be. Georgia College was the second school in the University System of Georgia to offer the MBA degree, and we have over forty years of graduates who will instantly be a part of your professional network.

We look forward to sharing in your success.

The Georgia College Liberal Arts MBA is a program of study designed specifically for students with an undergraduate degree in a non-business discipline. The objective of the program is to provide students with an analytical tool kit for management, including concepts and principles from the fundamental business disciplines. Students will develop skills in using these tools in an entrepreneurial problem-solving environment to enhance their ability to make and carry out managerial decisions.

The program requires 15 months of full-time study to complete the 16 required courses. The courses are offered in a lock-step sequence with all students in the cohort taking the same courses. Also, students will be required to participate in a series of co-curricular workshops addressing a variety of contemporary business issues. Another exciting feature of the program is the international business experience, which includes a 3-week international study tour.

The Liberal Arts MBA program prepares students to successfully lead and manage in a variety of organizational settings and endeavors. Each course in the program presents the relevant components of an effective business plan, so that upon completion of the MBA, each student will have prepared an individualized, comprehensive business plan. With an emphasis on global awareness and social responsibility, the program aims to leverage the skills and knowledge developed at the undergraduate level to create entrepreneurial business professionals.
