Campus Interview and
Virtual Recruitment Options
We recognize the changes that are occurring within the traditional recruitment environment. We can work with you in a variety of ways to connect with our students and alumni.
Traditional Campus Interviews
To schedule these interviews, you can use Career Connection to request specific dates and post your positions. We recommend an open interview schedule with filters in order to screen candidates who do not meet basic qualifications. However, a variety of schedule options are available to you.
|Open Schedule||Open schedules work well for employers who are looking for a variety of majors and may need to move through the scheduling process quickly. This type of schedule allows you to interview anyone who submits a resume. When you create your schedule, you can set specific criteria such as GPA, classification, work authorization, and major so that the system can pre-screen candidates for you. An open schedule also allows students to choose an interview time as soon as they submit a resume.
Mock or practice interviews are always set up in the system as an open schedule.
|Pre-Select Schedule||If your company prefers to review resumes and select the students and alumni you will interview, pre-select may work best for you. The pre-select option works best if you will be able to review resumes at least two weeks before the scheduled interview date.|
If your company wants to collect resumes but you are not sure if you can make it to campus, you may want to consider a virtual resume collection. On the virtual interview date, the resumes are emailed to your through the Career Connection system. At that time you can contact those candidates you wish to interview by telephone, at your company site, or on campus.
Once you receive the resumes, you can contact us if you would like to reserve campus interview space. If you provide us with the names of your top candidates, we can help you build your schedule.
Mock or Practice Interviews
The Career Center works with a variety of recruiters who volunteer their time to conduct mock interviews with students. You also have the opportunity to network with students in our leadership and career development certificate programs who are required to complete mock interviews. These opportunities are beneficial to both the student and the employer. While the student gets advice on interview techniques, the employer has an opportunity to connect with a student. In many cases, a mock interview has created a connection that led to full-time employment.
Students who elect to share their resume with employers are searchable through Career Connection. After you login, use the tab for "Student Search" and "Resume Books" tabs to look for students. Students who participate in our Intern-Ready Program have a special resume book for employers to use when recruiting interns. As a general rule, commission only will not be able to search the database on their own.
Georgia College Alumni Network
If you're a recruiter who is also a GC Alumni, you can also request to join our LinkedIn Alumni Group (Georgia College Alumni). You can also sign up to be a Alumni Mentor through Career Connection. The LinkedIn Group would give you the ability to network with other alumni and current students. The group is monitored by the University Career Center and the Office of Alumni Relations. The Alumni Mentor program would allow you to create a searchable profile for students to access through Career Connection.
With the challenge of rising costs and budget cuts, we want to offer an alternative for employers to meet with students. We have plans to soon add Skype to our interview format for employers. If you have used it with other schools and have ideas on how we can implement it, let us know. We will release information on this service later this summer.
