CONNECTING WHAT MATTERS

Creative Writing @ Georgia College

At Georgia College, graduate and undergraduate students are offered a variety of opportunities through the Creative Writing Program. For more information about graduate studies and the MFA Program, please see the video above or visit the MFA Program's web site. Students participating in the undergraduate concentration work with distinguished, award-winning faculty writers specializing in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and scriptwriting. For the Creative Writing Senior Capstone, students participate in special courses or projects such as editing The Peacock's Feet, Georgia College's undergraduate journal of the creative arts, studying abroad, and teaching in Early College, a writing-in-the-schools program in which undergraduates mentor seventh graders under the supervision of MFA students.

Additional opportunities include the annual Margaret Harvin Wilson Writing Award, a $1,000 prize for original works of drama, poetry or short story. Undergraduates are also encouraged to submit work for possible publication in The Peacock's Feet and to attend the Visiting Writers Series. Previous public readings have included nationally prominent writers such as E.L. Doctorow, Albert Goldbarth, Antonya Nelson, ZZ Packer and many others.
