Director of Wellness Programs: Dave Terrell
Dave graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. He went on to get his Master of Science in Health and Physical Education, Emphasis in Exercise Physiology, from the George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University. He continued his education at George Peabody by earning his Educational Specialist in Health and Physical Education, Emphasis in Curriculum Development. Prior to working at GCSU, Dave served as the Director of the Wellness Center at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia for 18 years.
Assistant Director of Wellness Programs: Amy Whatley
Amy graduated from Georgia College & State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She completed her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Health Promotion from GCSU in 2005. Throughout graduate school, Amy gained a great deal of experience working as a graduate assistant within the GCSU kinesiology department as well as a facility supervisor at the Wellness Depot. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist, and is currently working towards a Wellness Coach certification through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine).
Assistant Director of Wellness Programs: Laura Childs
Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Georgia College & State University in 1999. She also received her Masters in Education degree in Health Promotion from GCSU in 2007. Laura is a certified Group Fitness Instructor with AFAA (Aerobics & Fitness Association of America) and has been teaching group fitness classes for 10 years. She is also a certified Personal Fitness Trainer with AFAA since 2001. Prior to beginning work at GCSU, Laura worked for 8 years as Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness at Mercer University in Macon, GA.
Supervisor: Nick Bell
Nick graduated from GCSU in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. He is currently taking additional courses to pursue his Doctorate of Medicine. Nick began working at the Depot in 2006 as a front desk monitor and worked his way into a supervisory position in 2007. Facility supervisors provide overall supervision of the Wellness Depot operations in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director.
Supervisor: Ashtyn Gibbs
Ashtyn is a senior Exercise Science student. She began working as a facility monitor in 2007 and has since been promoted to a facility supervisor. Facility supervisors provide overall supervision of the Wellness Depot operations in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director.
Supervisor: Cooper Watts
Cooper began working at the Depot in March 2008. He is now a senior in the Criminal Justice program at GCSU. Before working at the Depot he was a life guard for five years in Rockdale County and various other pools. After college he plans to apply for jobs with some kind of federal or state level law enforcement agency. Facility supervisors provide overall supervision of the Wellness Depot operations in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director.
