Our 2011-2012 Itinerary :

September: "Don't DIS my ABILITY" Month
This month is dedicated to educating the campus on proper disability related etiquette. Many of us are not aware of how to better interact with our friends with disabilities. Therefore ABLE will be handing out flyers with candy on Monday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the fountain in front of the A&S building. Pick up one and read suggestions regarding what to do in certain situations.
Hope to see you there!

October: Mental Illness Awareness Month
This month ABLE promotes education on mental illness by bringing you Andrew Gadtke, the author of "Regular and Decaf". An assortment of health organizations on campus and the community have come together to host this extraordinary individual and his personal experience with schizophrenia. Join us for a moving and empowering session with Andrew Thursday, October 6 at 6 p.m. at the Magnolia Ballroom. Book signing immediately following the event!

November: Learning Disorder Awareness Month
This month is dedicated to increasing awareness of learning disorders. Learning disorders are prevalent in every environment. Teachers, students, and faculty can all benefit from this awareness. We hope you join ABLE Monday, November 7 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the fountain in front of A&S for hot coco and cookies.  ABLE will be handing out flyers on information about learning disorders.

January: Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month
ABLE
is very excited to bring back Darius and Crew from "Darius Goes West" to the GC campus and provide a viewing of his documentary. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the number one fatal genetic disease currently affecting children around the world. Experts are hopeful that Duchenne should be treatable or cured in the not too distant future. The primary goal of the Darius Goes West foundation is to serve as a catalyst in that effort. Please visit Darius' web site in order to learn more about his organization. We invite you to attend our event on campus in January 18, 2012 in the A&S auditorium.
