Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) provides services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, start, and maintain competitive employment, thus becoming productive and independent citizens in their communities. Services necessary for a qualified individual to meet a carefully-determined work goal may include college and university instruction.
Disability Services can provide the student and family with the contacts needed to apply for VR services or directly refer the student to the appropriate regional VR location.

2011-2012 American Council of the Blind Scholarship
ACB annually awards approximately twenty scholarships ranging in amounts from $1,000 - $2,5000 to vocational, entering freshmen, undergraduate, and graduate college students who are legally blind, maintain a 3.3 GPA, and are involved in their school/local community. Applications may be submitted beginning December 1st and all materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on March 1, 2011. 2011 National Scholarship Competition for College Students with DisabilitiesdisABLEDperson, Inc. is proud to announce its Spring 2011 scholarship competition. This competition begins on January 03, 2011 and ends on March 4, 2011 for the award of $1,000.00.
To participate, follow these simple steps:
- Write an essay with no more than 750 words (prompt can be found on disABLEDperson.com)
- Go to www.disABLEDperson.com and click on the "Register Now" link at the bottom of the scholarship page to register.
- Fill out the form completely and paste your essay into the form.
In order to qualify, the student must be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year accredited college or university in the United States.
They must be a full-time student and U.S. citizen (minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate, 9 credits for graduate).
Unfortunately, disABLEDperson, Inc., is not able to award scholarships to high school students or college students who are not attending classes full-time.
Be sure to submit your entry before the March 4, 2011 deadline. The winner will be announced on the disABLEDperson, Inc. web site on March 18, 2011.
