The Specialist in
Education (Ed.S.) program offered in
Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis
in
Secondary Education provides advanced study
for qualified master educators at the T6
certification level. The program of study
include a 12 hour advanced,
research-oriented, professional education
core and 15 hours of advanced course work in
the content field.
With a Specialist in
Education (Ed.S.) in Curriculum and
Instruction with an Emphasis in Secondary
Education,
participants can focus on teacher research
while also developing expertise in a content
area such as English, math, the social
sciences, science, business, art, health, or
foreign language. Programs tailored with a
dual focus of a content area plus
technology, reading endorsement, special needs, school improvement,
or national board certification are highly encouraged.
Advisement
Each candidate for the degree of Specialist in
Education in Curriculum and Instruction with
an Emphasis in Secondary Education is assigned a graduate
advisor in secondary education. The advisor
will serve as a mentor to the Specialist
Candidate and assist in proposing,
scheduling and completing the Specialist in
Education Program of Graduate Study. A minimum of 27 semester
hours of course work beyond the Master of
Education degree is required.

level. GCSU is not involved in this
process.
