General Information:

The Milledgeville Carrera-Model Program is a holistic and long-term program for thirty middle-school-aged youth who will be part of a free program that seeks to curb teen pregnancy and promote positive outcomes. The Carrera model uses an above-the-waist approach to pregnancy prevention, centering on the belief that success in school, meaningful employment, access to quality medical and health services, and interactions with role-model adults have a potent contraceptive effect on teens. The program incorporates a separate parent participation element and includes seven program components: educational support, career awareness and job club, lifetime sports, creative expression, comprehensive medical and dental services, mental health services, and family life and sex education. The program helps youth to develop personal goals and the desire for a productive future.
