General Information:
The mission of CATS is to promote a passion for learning while having fun and increasing student's awareness of their surroundings.  CATS goes into surrounding schools with many interesting topics to enhance student learning. They accomplish this through "hands-on" activities and non-traditional delivery systems at schools, local environmental centers, and GC.  Program focuses range from teambuilding and community awareness to science and environmental education to music, math, english, art, and history.  These activities are coordinated with grade appropriate QCC/GPS standards and are held at various times of the day.  Programs are facilitated by CATS, a core group of GC graduate and undergraduate students from various disciplines including biology, math, music therapy and outdoor education, who engage K-12 students of Baldwin and surrounding counties in activities that foster their interest in a variety of school subjects.  CATS is also involved in community river clean-ups, beautification projects, and programs with special needs adults of the area.  CATS designs, organizes and conducts enjoyable academic, team building, and enrichment activities in schools and camp settings, through clubs, and as a part of after-school programs to encourage young people to achieve academically and set their goals for higher education.  These students plan and implement programs for school groups based on the needs and desires of each group.
