Non-Degree Program Overview
GC offers other pathways for taking education coursework in addition to the degree programs.
Financial Aid and Graduate Assistantships
Students in the Non-Degree programs are not eligible for financial aid or graduate assistantships.
Non-Degree Certification Endorsements
Endorsement programs at the graduate level are offered to teachers wishing to add specific areas of expertise to their current State of Georgia Teacher Certification. Endorsement programs are not degree programs; they typically require 9-12 graduate semester hours. GC recommends program completers to the Professional Standards Commission for certification upgrades for endorsement programs. GC offers the following endorsement programs:
- Reading Endorsement
- ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement
Non-Degree Enrichment Courses
A person who holds a baccalaureate degree and wishes to enroll in graduate courses for purposes of self-improvement or enjoyment may be admitted for graduate study as an enrichment student. Should the student later decide to transfer to a degree seeking category, no more than 9 semester hours of credit earned while in this category may be applied toward a graduate degree program and then only if approved by the coordinator of the degree program desired. This classification is also for students who wish to take hours to renew certification.
Application Requirements for Non-Degree Enrichment:
- Submit a University Admissions Form including application fee, if applicable
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (except GCSU) including proof of a bachelor's degree.
- Pass the GCSU College of Education Graduate Writing Assessment
Non-Degree Certification Add-ons in School Library Media and Educational Leadership
Non-Degree Certification Add-ons are programs for a person who is already certified and wants to add-on another certification area. Georgia College must recommend persons for certification for these programs.
