Professional Partner School Agreement

This letter of intent represents agreement between Georgia College & State University's John H. Lounsbury School of Education and __________ School to develop an equal partnership. The intent is contingent upon adequate funding for activities.
Further, both parties agree:
1. The purpose of the partnership is to renew simultaneously both educational institutions through working collaboratively to achieve the following five goals:
• Increasing P-12 student learning and achievement,
• Mentoring beginning teachers,
• Providing field-placements for teacher candidates to demonstrate outcomes of guarantee,
• Collaborating in the preparation and development of teachers, and
• Increasing the amount of school-based research on improvement of schools and on teacher preparation and development programs.2. A steering committee consisting of university faculty, school faculty and principal will assume responsibility for guiding the planning and carrying out plans for achieving the stated goals. The initial partnership work commences in the _______ and continues through the school year of ________ at which time the university and the public school will review it. On-going yearly assessments will be conducted.
3. A faculty member(s) from Georgia College & State University will be chosen as the University Collaborator with the public school, and a public school employee will be chosen as a Public School Collaborator with the university. These individuals will be members of the steering committee.
From the public school perspective this agreement will have the potential to increase the number of the professional faculty and open avenues for contributions from teacher candidates and university personnel.
From the university perspective this agreement will afford field placements for teacher candidates and provide the potential to bridge research and practice.
4. The public school agrees to provide:
*At least 5-10 teachers who are willing to work with Georgia College & State University teacher candidates and Mentor Leaders.
*At least one full day release time per semester beginning _______ for three public school faculty steering committee members to plan collaboratively with university personnel.
*Time for the faculty at public school to engage in partnership activities including opportunities for professional development, co-teaching with university faculty, and clinical supervision.
*Access to school data for research purposes.
5. Georgia College & State University will provide:
*A University Collaborator to serve as a contact for the school and as a member of the steering committee,
* A University Liaison to maintain ongoing communication between the university and the school,
* Facilities for meetings and professional development,
* Support for working with the professional partner school on a defined school initiative,
* Professional development and research activities for partner school faculty and staff,
* Induction support,
*Planning and joint presentation of projects with professional partner school faculty at a local or regional conference, minimum of one per year. These venues may include but are not limited to GATE, RESA, SOE presentations, PTA meetings, and PDK meetings.
In agreement upon our shared intentions to form and develop a partnership, as described above, at the site of ______ School, we join our signatures below.
