The Shannon Funderburke Award

The Shannon Funderburke Award is presented annually by the faculty members of the Georgia College Department of Special Education and Educational Leadership to the graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding perseverance toward the goal of becoming a special education teacher.

The Shannon Funderburke Award was begun in 1994 following the death of Shannon who was a special education major from Griffin, Georgia.  Shannon overcame many obstacles in her time with us and truly embodied the meaning of the word "perseverance."
