Description of University Collaborator
(revision: 4/04)
The University Collaborators will serve as bridges between the University and the P-12 Partner Schools in which they have volunteered to work. The goal is for each P-12 Partner School (PPS) to have one University Collaborator.
The University Collaborators would:
*Be very familiar with the agreement between the University and that school,
*Serve on the steering committee of the P-12 Partner School,
*Serve as a contact for the P-12 Partner School,
*Support the Professional Partner School on a defined school initiative. Such support could include bringing in speakers from COE, Community, or other Colleges on Campus; providing research; sharing ideas, techniques, etc.
*Make one joint presentation per year with faculty at the P-12 Partner School at a local or regional conference. These venues may include but are not limited to GATE, RESA, COE presentations, PTA meetings, and PDK meetings.
* Have their fingers on the "pulse" of the school in such a way as would be beneficial to both the University and that school, in an effort to strengthen the relationship and growth of each.
The P-12 Partner School and the John H. Lounsbury College of Education have agreed to collaborate formally in these stated goal areas:
*Increasing P-12 learning and achievement,
*Mentoring beginning teachers,
*Providing field-placements for teacher candidates to demonstrate outcomes of guarantee,
*Collaborating in the preparation and development of teachers, and
*Increasing the amount of school-based research on improvement of schools and on teacher preparation and development programs.
