Cultural Center Coordinator's Message
Hello and welcome to the Cultural Center at Georgia College! As someone who’s been at Georgia College since 2003 as a college freshman, I truly believe in the importance of embracing diversity on campus and throughout the community. I’m very passionate about creating new opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members to increase their sense of multiculturalism and cultural competency. This is vital to the Cultural Center’s mission as we endeavor to create a diverse environment where people of all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to learn about other cultures.
Through programs such as MALE Connection and SOAR, we provide support for students of color through mentorship and enrichment opportunities that are proven to have a positive influence on student success. We also incorporate cultural heritage programming throughout the year, often collaborating with community organizations in observance of Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage month, MLK Day, etc. as part of our goal for diversity education.
We also house several multicultural student organizations, including Art as an Agent for Change, the Black Student Alliance, Latino Student Association and PRIDE Alliance. These organizations provide an environment of inclusivity and serve not only to support our marginalized students, but also to collaborate with other groups devoted to unifying causes.
You are encouraged to take advantage of the resources we have to offer at the Cultural Center. I’m sure you’ll find many opportunities for learning, enrichment and collaboration. I look forward to meeting you!
Thanks,
C. Emmanuel Little
