Multicultural Affairs

Multicultural Affairs works to ensure that there are adequate programs and initiatives which increase the retention of students of color, provide support and advocacy for cultural populations including those defined by sexual orientation, enhance awareness and appreciation of cultural and racial diversity, and promote a campus climate that celebrates difference. Multicultural Affairs works collaboratively with student organizations, other campus professionals, and faculty colleagues to integrate an appreciation of diversity into programs and services for the campus and to enhance the respect for human diversity and individuality that is highlighted in the university's Mission and Principles statements. Our mission is to provide holistic retention activities from enrollment through graduation for racial and ethnic minority students.

Providing service to students, staff and faculty is an important objective of this program. We have established a small Multicultural Learning Resource Library, which includes videos, audio, and literary resources on various diverse issues. Consulting and outreach services are available for all members of our campus community, parents, and community groups.

This program is a good starting point for students who desire to become acquainted with opportunities, people, places, and programs on and off campus.

Services include academic and personal guidance, leadership and cultural awareness training, career counseling, road trips to statewide and national conferences, scholarship information, a library of Multicultural articles, books, video and audio tapes. • Advising
