Services and Training
We fulfill our objectives by offering to the faculty, staff, administrators, senior leadership, students, and all other Georgia College constituencies:
- Services that facilitate and strengthen equal and equitable access to employment and educational opportunities.
- Guidance on issues of equity and equality in regard to civil rights and human dignity.
- Oversight and management of compliance with federal, state, the University System of Georgia, and Georgia College policies in the areas of equal opportunity and affirmative action.
- A mechanism for addressing informal and formal complaints of harassment and discrimination.
- Programs that are informed and enriched by the personal, cultural and intellectual differences of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.
- Processes to assess our commitment to equal opportunity, such as developing an annual Affirmative Action Plan that is evidence of our dedication to excellence in everything we attempt to accomplish.
- "Discussions" for faculty groups that may be incorporated into department and chair meetings.
- Information, consultation, training and resources with regard to:
- Diversity and inclusive communities
- Harassment and discrimination prevention
- Affirmative action, sexual harassment
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act.
- Cross-cultural Communications.
- Best Practices in Diversity Recruitment (in collaboration with Human Resources).
