At-A-Glance Timeline for Mentors

Orientation I – August 28, 2009 | Students attend the GEM Orientation where they meet fellow participants, review program details, and discuss goals, expectations, and responsibilities.

Orientation II – September 11, 2009 | Students meet to discuss professionalism, networking, and business etiquette.  They are also notified who their mentors are and encouraged to contact them to begin to get to know each other.  Mentors may contact students at any point after this date.  Although the Opening Reception is not until mid-October, students and mentors may start their shadowing visits if there are opportunities.

Shadow. Visits & Lead. Programming – 09/09 to 04/10 | Students and mentors are encouraged to meet at least three times during this period.  Students also participate in leadership and professional development programming on the GCSU campus throughout the year.

Opening Reception - October 20, 2009 | Students, mentors, and GCSU administrators and faculty are invited to attend the GEM Opening Reception, hosted by John Varner, Director of the PAGE Foundation, at the PAGE office in Atlanta.  The reception will begin at 6:00pm, and invitations will be sent out prior to the event.

Closing Ceremony - April 6, 2010 | Students, mentors, and GCSU administrators are invited to attend the GEM Closing Ceremony, hosted by Dr. Dorothy Leland, President of Georgia College & State University, in the University Banquet Room on the GCSU campus.  The ceremony will begin at 6:00pm, and invitations will be sent out prior to the event.
