Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Class Challenge Campaign?

The Class Challenge is a student – run giving campaign that is designed to establish a sense of philanthropy with our student body. The idea behind this campaign is to get students in the habit of giving to their soon–to-be alma mater.

I’m already paying for tuition, why give more money?
Tuition only covers a portion of the cost of an education from Georgia College. The remaining balance is funded through gifts made to the university from our alumni, parents and friends. Think of it this way, everything you are able to enjoy on campus is partly funded by previous students!

I can’t afford a large gift!
Everyone is on a budget! All we ask is that you consider a gift to represent your graduating year. For example, if you are to graduate in 2011, your gift would be $20.11. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but just think if 100 students made a gift of $20.11. That would be $2,011! What a great legacy!

My gift won’t make a difference, why bother?
Every gift is important regardless of the amount. Alumni and student participation is taken into consideration when Georgia College has the opportunity to receive grants from private foundations.

$20.11 may not seem like a lot, but it is to me. Can I make a smaller gift?
Sure! Every gift is important, regardless of the amount.  However, our online system can only accommodate donations above $9.99 at this time. If you would like to make a donation below that amount please contact us so we can make other arrangements.

I never have cash. Is there another way I can make my gift?
There are several ways to make your gift. MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Check, and you can even make a gift with the balance of your Bobcat Card.

What if I want my gift to go to a specific purpose, like my major?
You can designate where your gift will go, whether it is your major, scholarships, athletics, theatre, music. Just let us know in the comments section or on your pledge form. The choice is yours.

If I don’t designate a specific place to make a gift, where will it go?
Your gift will be applied to The Heritage Fund, an unrestricted fund used to support various areas on campus where there is greatest need.

Will anyone know that I made a gift?
Unless you ask that your gift be anonymous, your name will be placed on Bobcat Vision, Facebook, Class Challenge Website, as well as in The Connection Magazine.

Can I honor a professor when I make my gift?
Of course! Your gift can be in honor or memory of anyone you would like including professors, parents, or friends. Just be sure you make a note of your wishes on in the comments section of the online giving form or on the pledge form.
