Bradley Koch Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Sociology recently published an article titled “Who Are the Prosperity Gospel Adherents?” in the Journal of Ideology.  The study focuses on the followers of the Prosperity Gospel and investigates the role that social and economic background play in that support.  Prosperity Gospel adherents consider wealth as a sign of God’s blessing and poverty the outcome of a lack of faith.  Dr. Koch notes that “the Prosperity Gospel is a flexible theology that is well suited to be adapted to varying social locations, particularly in a society like the United States that is radically individualistic.”
