GCSU Center for Graduate and Professional Learning Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Where is the Center for Graduate & Professional Learning in Macon?
We are located in the Thomas Jefferson Building at 433 Cherry Street in downtown Macon. The administrative office is located on the first floor and classrooms on floors 3, 4, and 5.

2. What programs are available at GCSU Macon?
The following graduate degree programs are available, and students may complete the entire degree program at the Center.

There are several ways to get information about your program of interest. One of the best ways is to contact a coordinator.

4. When do classes meet?
Classes typically meet one evening or late afternoon per week and start at 4:30, 5, 5:30 or 6 p.m. Typically, Macon classes do not meet on Friday evenings or weekends. However, occasionally some business and education courses have weekend meeting times. Please visit the PAWS Web site to view the official schedule of classes at paws.gcsu.edu.

Additional graduate programs may be added in the future as well as professional learning programs.

5. Where do I park?
GCSU students, faculty, and staff may park in the parking garage behind the Thomas Jefferson building or in spaces on Cherry and adjoining streets. The parking garage is located behind the Thomas Jefferson building on Mulberry Street Lane.

There is an elevator in the garage near the attendant's booth at the garage exit. Faculty and students using the parking garage may enter the Thomas Jefferson building through the Mulberry Street Lane entrance. Alternately, a covered walkway connects the parking garage to the second floor stairway of the Thomas Jefferson building.

A valid Bobcat ID Card is required of all Macon students, faculty and staff  parking in the parking garage.  If a person does not have a Bobcat ID Card upon exiting the garage, a parking fee is charged at the exit booth. Parking rates are $.50 per hour or $5.00 for the entire day. Only cash and check payments are accepted forms of payment at the exit booth. Students are encouraged to keep their Bobcat ID cards with them at all times as the card provides them access to the classrooms and parking the garage.

The Bobcat ID Card can be obtain the Macon administrative Office or the Bobcat Card Office on the main campus is Milledgeville.

6. Where is my classroom?
Classroom assignments for Macon courses will be listed on the official schedule of classes. Please visit the PAWS website to view the official schedule of classes at paws.gcsu.edu. Classroom assignments will also be posted in the Macon administrative office located on the 1st floor of the Thomas Jefferson Building.

7. Where do I purchase textbooks?
Textbooks for Macon classes may be purchased and ordered online from the GCSU PawPrints Bookstore. The bookstore web address is www.gcsu.bkstr.com. Textbooks ordered online will be shipped to your home address via Federal Express within two business days. Alternately, you may elect to pick up texts from the PawPrints Bookstore on the main campus in Milledgeville.

8. Do I need a student ID card?
Yes. All GCSU students are required to have a valid Bobcat ID card. This card will provide elevator access to the classrooms and Resource Center on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors and access to the parking garage. Students must present a current class schedule or receipt of payment for classes in order to obtain a Bobcat ID card. The card will also be needed to utilize the "pay for print" copier in the Resource Center on the 3rd floor.

9. How can I pay my fees?
Students may pay fees one of three ways: online, by mail, or in-person at the Business Office on the Milledgeville campus.

A. Online through myCATS. Students may pay with American Express, Discover, MasterCard or WebCheck. Logon to your myCATS account at mycats.gcsu.edu and click on GCSU Term Balance. You will need to enter your social security number and PAWS pin to complete your transaction. A convenience fee will apply to all credit card payments.

B. You can mail your payment when paying by check or money order. Send payments to Campus Box 22, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.

10. Where can I get help with financial aid?
Students interested in financial aid may contact the Financial Aid office on the Milledgeville campus at (800) 342-0471 or (478) 445-5149 or through the Web site at: www.gcsu.edu/financialaid.

11. What food services will be available at GCSU Macon?
Vending machines and water fountains are available in the Center's 3rd floor break room. Additionally, several excellent restaurants are available within walking distance of the Thomas Jefferson building.

12. What if I need to make copies of course work?
A "pay for print" copier is available for student use in the Resource Center on the 3rd floor and a copier is available on the 4th floor. A Bobcat ID card will be required to pay for the copies.

13. Are there computer labs available?
Yes. A computer lab and Resource Center is available for student use on the 3rd floor  of the Center. The computer lab and Resource Center are equipped with MACs and PCs.

14. Is security available at the Center?
Yes. A Public Safety Officer is on site during afternoon and evening hours beginning at 2 PM Monday - Thursday and weekends when classes are scheduled. The officer regularly patrols the GCSU floors and parking garage. 

The Public Safety Officer is stationed in the Public Safety Office of the GCSU Macon Administrative Office on the first floor of the Thomas Jefferson Building.  Students, faculty and staff may contact the Public Safety Officer at (478) 752-4278 from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., Monday - Thursday and by cell phone 24 hours at (478) 414-6979, Monday - Thursday and weekends.
