Funding Databases and Grant Seeking Sources
In the current climate of budget cuts and sequestration, it has become increasingly important for colleges and universities to look beyond government funding toward private foundations. To help GRC members in their search for private funding, Patricia Pasqual, director of the Foundation Center’s Washington office, gave an overview of some of the Foundation Center’s lesser known online resources:
- Grantspace.org – offers tips on how to approach potential funders and craft proposals;
- Glasspockets.org – provides transparency in philanthropy, this site is a useful tool for grant seekers to research foundation practices and trends;
- Grantcraft.org – offers a space for funders to share ideas and best practices, it is also a resource for grant seekers to gain insight into current giving trends;
- Philanthropy In/Sight – matches Foundation Center grant-making data with Google maps; and
- Cooperating Collections – brings Foundation Center resources to non-profits in under-served areas across the country and offers opportunities for libraries and community organizations to serve as information hubs.

Resources for Artists can be found through Grant Space, a service of the Foundation Center. They provide information regarding foundations that give directly to individuals, usually to help pay for their education or projects.
PreservationDirectory.com is a grant and fundraising guide for historic and cultural resource preservation. With so many resources available, their goal is to bring these great financial resources together in one place for the benefit of the preservation community.
Philanthropy News Digest publishes RFPs and notices of awards as a free service for grant-making organizations and nonprofits.
The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools promotes children’s health and school success by advancing school connected programs, policies and systems. The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) is a nonpartisan policy, resource and technical assistance center with a 25-year history of developing school-connected strategies for better health and education outcomes for children. CHHCS partners with foundations, government health and education agencies, school districts and providers across the country to support their school-connected initiatives.

Where to Locate Wellness Grant Opportunities
The SPARK Grant Finder - A great resource for locating national and state-specific grants for your Physical Education, after school, early childhood or Coordinated School Health program. Grants can be used for curriculum, teacher training or equipment.
