Group Disability Insurance
SHORT-TERM DISABILITY (STD)
If you become disabled due to a non-occupational accident or sickness (including pregnancy), you are eligible to receive benefits equal to 60% of your weekly pay up to a maximum weekly benefit of $1,250. To apply for Short Term Disability benefits, you must complete the STD benefit packet which includes information for you and your doctor to complete. Reliance Standard either approves or denies all claims. STD benefits begin on the 15th calendar day after the start of the disability and continue up to a maximum of either 11 or 20 weeks. You will pay for your employee elected amount with after tax money so that the benefit you receive will not be taxed.

Long Term Disability insurance provides you with income replacement should you become disabled for an extended period of time. You have the opportunity to enroll in LTD through Georgia College and State University with a benefit of 60% of your monthly earnings up to a maximum of $10,000. Benefits begin after either 90 or 150 days and continue as long as you are disabled up to your Social Security Retirement Age or ADEA-B-AGE. You will pay for your employee elected amount with after tax money so that the benefit you receive will not be taxed.
