Work Life - Wellness Benefits

AVAILABLE WELLNESS SERVICES

Centennial Center - includes: walking track, racquet ball courts, outdoor pool, basketball courts. contact: Lisa Castillo at 478-445-6542 or Carol Brown at 478-445-2749.
 
Women’s Resource Center – Working Moms Group, Women on Wednesday, Nursing Nest (private place for nursing moms to breast feed or pump).  Also provide support and resources for sexually assaulted or battered women.  For more information and a list of upcoming events, visit their website at http://womenscenter.gcsu.edu or call Jennifer Graham-Stephens at 478-445-8156.

Wellness and Recreation Center –Employee memberships are available for a monthly fee of $45, which may be payroll deducted.  Membership includes access to Courts, Fitness Equipment, Indoor Track, Group Fitness Classes, the Leisure Pool, the Recreation Lap Pool, and the Climbing Wall.  Additional services and or programs available to employees include but are not limited to: Fitness Assessments, Freedom From Smoking Cessation Class, Personal Training, Massage Therapy, Rec Sports Competitions, and educational programs/workshops/events – some of which do require additional fees or payments.  See below for more details.

Student Health Services – Annual health fair.  Includes free screenings and tests.  Plus, educational programs/workshops. See http://www.gcsu.edu/studenthealth for details.

Music Therapy- Provides individual relaxation sessions on the "Somatron". The Somatron is a vibro-acoustic chair that provides a  gentle massage while music is playing. It is a great for relaxation when you are tense and stressed. Sessions are 30 minutes and can be scheduled by calling Phillis Brown 478-445-2645. Music is provided.

Human Resources – For insured employees, wellness programs and a health resource program called 360 degree health via BCBS of Georgia.

SERVICES FOR A FEE

The Department of Continuing Education has numerous health and fitness courses.  A full schedule of their aerobics, zumba, Pilates, first aid, CPR, yoga, swimming, lifeguarding, tennis and golf classes can be found in the current course catalog or on their website at http://continuingeducation.gcsu.edu.

Wellness and Recreation Center – Employee membership ($45/month); Employee Spouse membership ($50/month); Personal Training ($30 OR $60 a semester depending on desired package.  See http://www.gcsu.edu/wellness/services.htm for details); Massage Therapy (coming February; details TBA), Rec Sports ($5 per player per team; details available at http://www.gcsu.edu/studentlife/intramural.htm) .

Student Health Services – Periodically provides cholesterol testing to employees at a low cost.
