NOTE: The minimum TOEFL scores for graduate
admission are 79 (IBT), 213 (Computer) and
550 (Paper) effective Spring Semester 2009.
Undergraduate
To be considered for admission to an
undergraduate program, applicants must
document the following:*
- Successful completion of the equivalent of
a U.S. college-preparatory high school
program.
- Transfer applicants with less than
30 semester credit hours must have a
minimum of a 2.0 grade point average (out
of a 4.0 grading scale) on all university
coursework. Transfer applicants with 30-60
semester credit hours must have a minimum
2.3 grade point average, and transfer
applicants with 60 or more credit hours and
those applying to the School of Business or
Mass Communication programs must have a
minimum 2.5 grade point average. GCSU's
International Education Center will review
your educational documents and equate your
previously completed coursework to U.S.
grade equivalencies.
- Completion of the College Preparatory
Curriculum requirements for applicants who
graduated from a high school located inside
the United States or inside the
jurisdiction of the United States
educational system.
- Eligibility to continue enrollment at a
current or previous academic institution
(i.e. not on academic exclusion, suspension
or dismissal).
- English language
proficiency through one of the following
ways:**
- Official TOEFL
score report with a minimum score of 61
on the Internet-based test, 173 on the
computer-based test, or 500 on the
paper-based test.
- Official SAT
score report with a
minimum verbal score of 440
- Official
IELTS
score report with a minimum score of 6.0
- Successful completion of Level 112 in
an ELS Language Center
- Other proof of proficiency in the English language
as determined by the International Admissions staff
- Sufficient financial support as
specified on the Declaration of Finances.
Graduate
To be considered for admission
to a graduate program, applicants must
document the following:*
- Successful completion of the equivalent
of a U.S. bachelor's degree.
- Minimum grade point average and test
scores required for the graduate program.
Program requirements vary; please refer to
the specific program requirements in the
graduate catalog. GCSU's
International Education Center will review
your educational documents and equate your
previously completed coursework to U.S.
grade equivalencies.
- Eligibility to continue enrollment at a
current or previous academic institution
(i.e. not on academic exclusion, suspension
or dismissal).
- English language
proficiency through one of the following
ways:
- Official TOEFL score report with a
minimum score of 79 on the Internet-based
test, 213 on the computer-based
test or 550 on the paper-based test
- Official
IELTS score report with a
minimum score of 6.5
- Successful completion of Level 112 in
an ELS Language Center
- Other proof of proficiency in the
English language as determined by the
International Admissions staff

** Undergraduate applicants who meet the minimum TOEFL/IELTS
requirements above but who score below 80
(Internet-based TOEFL), 213 (computer-based
TOEFL), 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 6.5 (IELTS)
are eligible for admission, but will be
required to take an ESL class concurrent with
other courses during the first semester of
enrollment.
