Global Scholars Fund

For more than 20 years, the international scholars program has been a hallmark of Georgia College. Currently, the University is proud to host more than 100 scholars from around the globe, students whose intelligence, rich histories and perspectives bring a diversity that greatly enriches our campus and community. International students speak about their countries to both student and community groups, volunteer at local schools and the Boys and Girls Club, orchestrate the International Day program each fall, and produce the popular International Dinner each spring. The International Club has more than 100 members, including dozens of U.S. students, many of whom have been inspired by their study abroad experiences. Each year more than 300 students will participate in summer and semester study programs in more than 25 countries. Casa Mondo, a cross-cultural living experience, houses more than 30 residents on campus.

Georgia College is committed to increasing both international student enrollment and annual study abroad participation. However, the achievement of these goals is challenged by a dramatic increase in out-of-state tuition in recent years, as well as decreases in the number of out-of-state waivers for international students and available funding for study abroad students. The support of our alumni and friends is essential to the future of international and study abroad students at the University.

At the 2002 International Dinner, we announced the creation of the Global Scholars Fund, established by an anonymous donor for the purpose of providing financial assistance to international and study abroad scholars. Because of your generous response, the International Education Center is proud to announce that contributions to the Global Scholars Fund now total more than $50,000, and we have been able to award grants for the past several years.

With your gift to the Global Scholars Fund, you have the opportunity directly to affect the future and vitality of the International Education Program. Your on-going support will help enable a tradition of excellence to continue, and the best and brightest students, worldwide, to receive the benefit of GC's liberal arts educational experience. And, that we continue to benefit from the multi-cultural, diverse experiences international scholars and study abroad students bring to our community. Please consider making a gift today. Thank you.

Send your gift with the Contribution Form: Georgia College, International Education Center, Campus Box 49, Milledgeville, GA, 31061.

Note: GC employees may give through payroll deduction. Payroll deduction forms are available through the University Foundation. All gifts to the GC Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
