The Department of Kinesiology offers innovative programs that
focus on
the interactions among movement, personal
growth, and wellness. As a student, you will
work with both professors and fellow students
in a variety of settings in order to empower
others to lead healthy lifestyles and to
function more effectively in society.
The Department is a significant part of the
history of Georgia College & State
University. The first Health Education degree
program in the United States was offered by
Georgia College (then Georgia Normal and
Industrial Institute) in 1917, and the first
degree awarded at Georgia College in 1921
was a degree in Physical Education.
The Department offers lecture and activity
courses designed to teach about personal
health and to provide you with the knowledge
and skills to make positive lifestyle
choices. The Outdoor Education Center
provides an opportunity to engage in outdoor
adventure activities led by faculty and
student experts in the field of experiential
education.
