Athletic Training
B.S. in Athletic Training
Degree Requirements
Faculty and staff at Georgia College are committed to providing students with up-to-date educational processes that integrate experiential and traditional learning environments that are at the core of our liberal arts mission.
Instructional personnel, in and associated with the athletic training education program, teach students in compliance with the values of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Inc. (NATA), Code of Professional Practice, the NATA Education Council, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC).
The Athletic Training Education Program is a unique educational environment because it uses a 'hands on' learning approach in which functional application skills are presented along with foundational didactic components. Students acquire critical thinking skills, when combined with clinical experiences, prepare them to enter a wide range of professional athletic training contexts. Graduates of our programs are able to pursue their ambitions in the health care market by choosing the specific athletic training practice setting that meets their career goals.
Mission
The mission of the Georgia College Athletic Training Education Program is to produce quality health care professionals, through an experiential education program, who are prepared to make a meaningful contribution to the field of athletic training, and who exhibit the highest standards of ethical behavior and professionalism.
Accreditation
The B.S. in Athletic Training received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) in April 2003.
