The Peacock's Feet: Georgia College & State University's Creative Arts Journal on Exhibit

May 28 – July 30, 2009

The GCSU Museum is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition of visual art works and writings selected from Georgia College's creative arts journal, The Peacock's Feet. This exhibit will be on May 28 through July 30, 2009. The Peacock's Feet is a Georgia College tradition that extends thirty-four years. Commenting upon the journal's progression, Literary Editor, Natasha Trinit, stated, "Some traditions have been shed along the way, new ones have taken their place, and we too will leave behind some inevitable mark on what comes after us." This exhibition is intended to honor this tradition while celebrating the creative endeavors of the student artists and writers whose works comprise its contents. "The Peacock's Feet exhibition," said Shannon Morris, Museum Curator, "brings the contents of the journal out of the binding and places them onto the walls as a means of sharing them with the visitor(s)." "There is no match for seeing artworks in person and hopefully the engaging selections of writings, strategically placed throughout the space, will encourage museum visitors to take home a journal and enjoy its poems, short stories and plays, said Morris." Great efforts were made to exhibit each creative endeavor in some form or fashion. During the spring semester, museum staff members spent time reading the poems, the fiction, the creative non-fiction and the dramatic works to select those that will be installed throughout the gallery. "Organizing this exhibition was a group effort," shared Morris, "the senior museum staff members, especially Jessica Coulter and Zach Elliott, really took a lead role."  PeacockFeet
