Supporting Special Collections

Special Collections serves the university and public by preserving the papers, memorabilia, and artifacts of our collections to ensure that students and citizens will have access to our rich history. You can help support Special Collections in its mission to preserve history.

Donors may choose to sponsor an existing project that relates to their interests. However, if you have an idea for a new project that you would like to support, please give us a call at (478) 445-0988. All gifts are tax deductible.

Current Projects

Collection Acquisition and Development - Special Collections continues to add rare books, manuscripts, and organizational papers to its archives. Some of these collections are acquired through personal donations; others are purchased. Donations to this project will be used to purchase rare books and collections that broaden our scope and supplement existing holdings.

Outreach Programs - Special Collections holds outreach programs throughout the year to educate students and the community about its collections and archives in general. Some of the programs Special Collections has sponsored include a book collecting workshop, Archives Week, and the Flannery O'Connor birthday celebration. Donations in support of outreach programming fund guest speakers and purchase supplies and materials for the events.

Technology for Tomorrow - Special Collections is committed to making its holdings as accessible as possible. Digitizing materials, creating online displays and finding aids are just some of the ways that we work to open archives to the public. Donations to this project are used to purchase scanners, computers, software, copiers and other technology that helps us maintain and publicize our collections.
