ITC Media Equipment Checkout Procedures

The Library & Instructional Technology Center together with the Student Technology Fee Advisory Committee has purchased cameras, iPads, laptops and peripherals for checkout to students of Georgia College. Equipment is made available in support of our liberal arts mission and in keeping with the following goals:
- The exploration of new technology and its usefulness in academic pursuits
- To provide access to technology that may be unavailable to individuals in our institution
- To promote innovative learning methods
- To aid students in understanding ever-changing technology and its role in academic, business, and personal life
All equipment is for student use. Faculty/Staff may check out equipment subject to availability and these same procedures and fees.

Equipment Availability
Current Georgia College Students, Faculty, and Staff can check out media equipment. A valid Georgia College ID card is required. The Instructional Technology Center does not guarantee the availability of any equipment. It is issued on a first come, first serve basis. Patrons may renew their equipment in person depending on availability.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Equipment checked out on this first-come, first-served basis MUST BE returned on or before the due date and is NOT eligible for extended checkout. If equipment is needed for longer, please refer to the Extended Checkout Procedure.
Patrons may check out equipment during the following hours:
Seven Days a Week 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Late Fees, Damaged Equipment, and Equipment Loss
If equipment is overdue, the media lab reserves the right to cancel your account and revoke privileges to check out media equipment for the rest of the current semester. If equipment is overdue the ITC charges a daily late fee. If the equipment is 14 days late you will receive a fine for the replacement value of the camera plus a processing fee. If a fine is implemented, a hold will be placed on your records until that fine is paid.
*You agree to pay for the repair or replacement of items that were damaged or lost during your custody.
Digital Equipment Fines / Fees:
- Daily Fee - $5 per day
- Lost Fee - Value of the equipment + $50 Processing Fee
*If Equipment is returned once in Lost Status, the replacement fee and processing fee will be waived but the student is then required to pay the Daily fee for each day not returned but will not go over the replacement value of the equipment.
Accessories Equipment Fines / Fees:
- Daily Late Fee - $2 per day
- Lost Fee - Value of the equipment + $10 Processing Fee
*If Equipment is returned once in Lost Status, the replacement fee and processing fee will be waived but the student is then required to pay the Daily fee for each day not returned but will not go over the replacement value of the equipment.

Ethical Guidelines
Georgia College holds the right to restrict media equipment use for individuals abusing the services provided. Georgia College and the Instructional Technology Center consider the following actions unethical:
1. Production/Broadcasting of copyrighted audio or video works without consent of the owner.
2. Production of audio or video clips of a personal nature which may infringe on the privacy of another individual.
3. Production of audio or video works with vulgar, indecent, or obscene content.
Users who violate these guidelines are subject to disciplinary action up to and including expulsion for students or termination for employees.

Workshops and Training
The ITC offers a wide range of multimedia workshops designed for beginners. The workshops provide an introduction to multimedia tools, such as video and photo cameras, audio recording, video editing and graphic design. All workshops are free and open to all Georgia College students, staff, and faculty. Workshops are available upon request. For more information email us at joe.windish@gcsu.edu.
Lab Assistants are only available for basic assistance and support. They perform basic troubleshooting on computer lab hardware, software, and peripherals. They monitor lab supplies and report problems. They are NOT able to provide extensive one-on-one instruction.
Privacy and Data Loss
All accounts and associated data will be deactivated at the end of the current semester. To have your account reactivated, you will be required to complete a LITC Loan Contract. Your data will be deleted after one full semester of being deactivated. The Instructional Technology Center does no take any responsibility for data loss.
To ensure your privacy the ITC encourages patrons to remove any personal information from the device before returning it. However, all equipment will be restored to a default load upon each check in, deleting all data and apps from the previous user. The ITC is not responsible for anything you put or leave on our equipment.
