Dictionary of the Sport and Exercise Sciences. Ref GV558 .D53 1991.
- Provides short definitions of approximately 3,000 terms and concepts relevant to sport and exercise.
Directory of psychological tests in the sport and exercise sciences. 2nd ed. Ref GV706.4 .D57 1996.
- Provides summaries of over 300 tests (scales, questionaires, and inventories) dealing with sports and exercise. Each chapter covers tests for a specific area, such as motivation, confidence, and body image. The summary includes information about purpose, reliability, validity, and other information.
The encyclopedia of sports medicine. Ref RC1206 .O355 2005
- Provides 1-2 page summaries of sports injuries and conditions. Each entry includes information on cause, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Includes several appendices containing infomration about safety and nutrition tips, professional organizations, schools, journals, and web sites. Also includes a bibbliography of information sources.

- Short definitions of terms and concepts.
The sports health handbook. Ref RC1206 .H3.
- Contains short articles about concepts in sports health. Many articles are illustrated. Also includes an index and list of references.
The Library also holds a number of medical reference books.

These GALILEO
databases are the best starting place for locating Athletic Training documents.
- ERIC. "Educational Resources Information Center, database covers all aspects of education and educational research, includes both abstracts of published and unpublished sources on thousands of educational topics."
- CINAHL with Full Text. CINAHL is the database for Allied Health professionals. It indexes 800 nursing and allied health journals and is updated monthly.
- MEDLINE. MEDLINE indexes 3,900 journals covers all aspects of medicine. Try using a precision searches to narrow your topic.
- PsycINFO. PsycINFO is a good place to find articles on athletes and motivation, emotion, stress, eating disorders, and more.

Search for theses and dissertations in health, physical education, recreation, exercise and sport sciences, sport history, and sport related issues. The microfiche for theses in this collection are available in the Copy Room on the 2nd floor. Some theses and dissertations are available online. Government Information
President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
- Advises the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the President abouts matters pertaining to physical activity, fitness, and sports in America. The web site contains information about the Council as well as copies of reports, research digests, and other publications.
Federal Citizen Information Center - Health Information.
- A collection of publications geared toward consumers on all areas of health including exercise and nutrition. Many documents can be downloaded for free. Others may be ordered from FCIC.
- The National Library of Medicine is part of the National Institutes of Health. Search the Library's catalog, Pubmed, Medline and other databases.
National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases
- Another member of the National Institutes of Health, NIAMS provides information about the Institute as well as access to publications about sports injuries and other topics.
Firstgov Health and Nutrition Page
- Firstgov is the Federal Government's information Portal. The Health and Nutrition page provides links to information about exercise, health and nutrition. You can also search Federal and State goverment websites.

- Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association Includes much of the same kinds of information as the NATA but is geared to the Southeastern Conference.
- Georgia Athletic Trainers Association Designed especially for current and potential Athletic Trainers in Georgia.
- National Strength and Conditioning Association The NSCA is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning for improved physical and athletic performance.
- Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education CAAHEP is the accrediting arm for all allied health professions.
