Ministerial Association

Abstract
The Milledgeville/Baldwin County Ministerial Association Collection consists of two cubic feet of meeting minutes, financial records, and correspondence of the society, spanning roughly from 1953 to 1990, with few documents after 1986. Various church programs, flyers, and newspaper clippings are also included.
Note on Arrangement
The original order of the documents was maintained where possible. Most of the early financial records and minutes were already organized; therefore, they were filed chronologically. Financial records and minutes from 1977 to 1986 were, in essence, unorganized. Dated documents were grouped together, with effort to maintain the consistency of organization from previous years, and filed chronologically. Most correspondence, programs and flyers were unorganized as well. To create some logical arrangement, these items were filed alphabetically by description, then chronologically if dated. When found organized in the minutes, they were left in context.
Scope and Content
Though this collection encompasses 1953 to 1990, the most comprehensive records are found from 1953 to 1971 and from 1973 to 1977. Materials from other years are less detailed and systematic in comparison, with seeming gaps in recording.
The meeting minutes provide an inkling of the community issues with which the area pastors concerned themselves. Correspondence included in this collection may elaborate on some of those issues. Church and pastor member listings also comprise the minutes. Financial records, as well as minutes, reflect the programs supported by the Ministerial Association. For the most part, these records are detailed, including statements, cancelled checks, and receipts.
There are a few service programs, flyers, and newspaper clippings that illustrate the happenings of the area churches. The majority of these items do not appear until 1978 and subsequent years.
