Technical Services
Serials
The Serials Department is responsible for the acquisition, cataloging, check in, and processing of all magazines, journals, newspapers, microfilm, services and standing orders for the Georgia College libraries. In addition, the department is responsible for mail sorting and distribution within the library. The Serials Department is also responsible for sending books and periodicals to the bindery, which includes thesis binding.
The Serials Department gladly accepts donations of scholarly journals and recent magazines. The department generates money for the library by selling complete volumes of journals. Individual issues we can make available at no charge to other academic libraries through established duplicate exchange programs. We also collect recent general interest magazines for donation to local prisons. You may also wish to contact your local public or school libraries about donating magazines. Donations are accepted for the library by Bill Richards, Collection Development Librarian.
The Georgia College Library Journal Locator is maintained by the Serials Department.
