Thesis Binding
Students should work with their departmental thesis advisors for proper format and requirements for their thesis. A Thesis Binding Submission Form (pdf) must be completed prior to delivering the thesis and copies to the Library's Circulation Desk.
The thesis and copies should be delivered either in a box with copies separated by colored sheets of paper or in separate folders. The signature page must be complete and include appropriate dates. The original copy should be clearly marked as such.
The Library provides binding services for student theses through the National Library Bindery. The Library's role is that of middleman, passing theses on to the bindery representative and notifying major professors and students when these return from the bindery.
Prepayment must accompany each thesis. Checks or money orders should be made out to the National Library Bindery. Costs for binding are as follows:
Base charge for 2 bound copies - - - - - - $45.00
Charge for 3 or more bound copies - - - - - - - - - - - - - $19.50 each
Upon return from the bindery, one bound copy of each thesis is placed in the library's circulating collection. The unbound original is placed in the Special Collections vault. All other copies are returned to the department.
Theses and checks may be dropped off at the Library's Circulation Desk whenever the library is open.
Theses must be turned in by the following dates to be bound:
Fall Semester - - - - - - - - - - - - January 1*
Spring Semester - - - - - - - - - - June 1*
Summer Semester - - - - - - - - - August 1*
*If the library is closed, the theses can be turned in on the next business day.
