Networks via category theory Dr. Jer-Chin (Luke) Chuang, GC Mathematics Department

Abstract

This talk will summarize results from the paper "Higher-Dimensional Models of Networks" by David I. Spivak in which models of networks via gra phs, hypergraphs, and (semi-)simplicial sets are interpreted categorically as set-valued functors over various indexing categories. The talk will include a review of basic categorical notions such as functors and natural transformations.
