Dr. Aurora Castillo

Dr. Castillo, a Colombian native, joined the GC faculty in August 2007. She came to the United States to study English at West Virginia University. She moved to Milledgeville after living in West Virginia for eight years. She holds an M.A. in Spanish, an M.A. in Secondary Education, and an Ed.D. in Technology Education from West Virginia University. Her research interest focuses on Instructional Technologies in Foreign Languages, Technology Education, and Foreign Language Methodology. She has been working on the application of authentic activities through Instructional Technologies in Foreign Language teaching and learning. Most recently, Dr. Castillo has used new teaching approaches such as implementing virtual conferencing with students in her native country, Colombia, and virtual worlds in her Spanish classes. At the International Conference on College Teaching and Learning, she was distinguished with the Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology for her work with virtual worlds.
Mr. R. Scott Martindale

Mr. Martindale, originally from Ohio, received his M.A. in Spanish from the University of Akron in 2010. He has spent considerable time in Mexico where he worked as a TEFL instructor. He has extensive knowledge in the fields of networking and troubleshooting systems as well as in depth knowledge of language learning software and methods. His research interests include psychoanalysis, linguistics, and 20th century Mexican Studies. In his free time, he enjoys film and photography.
