Ms. Vicki Pyles-Hutchinson

Ms. Vicki Pyles-Hutchinson is a native of Atlanta. She holds a B.A. in French from Agnes Scott College and an M.A. in French from Middlebury College. While studying abroad with Middlebury in Paris for a year, she earned a diploma in Business French from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the University of Georgia she taught French as a graduate assistant while doing graduate work at the PhD level in Romance Languages. She completed the translation program at Georgia State University where she received an award for Excellence in Translation Studies for French. She received certification as a translator in both language combinations of French to English and English to French. Ms. Hutchinson has taught French as an adjunct faculty member at universities throughout the Atlanta area including Georgia State University, Clayton College and State University, Mercer University and Oxford College of Emory University. As a linguist for the federal government, she has done translation and interpretation work on issues relevant to national security. She has translated highly technical documents and press reports for companies such as Michelin Tire Corp. and Alumax Inc. She supported the C130-J program at Lockheed Martin, Inc. while working as a technical writer in French for ISPA, Inc. Her interests include translation studies, the use of technology in second language acquisition as well as 17th and 20th century French literature.
