Bachelor of Music Therapy Overview
The focus of the music therapy baccalaureate program is threefold: music, health & behavioral sciences, and music therapy. Supervised clinical experiences are an integral part of the curriculum and a 6-month off-campus internship follows completion of the coursework. The music therapy programs at Georgia College have been approved by both the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) - formerly the National Association for Music Therapy. A graduate of Georgia College with a bachelor's degree in music therapy meets the AMTA requirements for registration and is eligible to take the national exam of the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
Degree Equivalency Program
The Music Therapy Degree Equivalency Program is offered for those already possessing a music degree from a recognized college or university. This non-degree program of guided study is individualized, building on previous studies and experiences to meet the AMTA requirements for registration and the CBMT requirements to take the national exam of the CBMT.
