University Chorus
University Chorus is a non-auditioned choral organization focusing on the study and performance of music of all periods and styles and is open to all members of the university community. Students who enjoy singing are encouraged to join regardless of major or music-reading skills.
In the past five years, UC has performed a number of choral masterworks with orchestra or instrumental ensembles and professional vocal soloists. These works include Mozart Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Mendelssohn’s Hymne. Members of UC have also performed with the Macon Symphony Orchestra for Mahler Symphony No. 3 (2006) and “An Evening of Opera Choruses”(2008). A number of commissions have been premiered by UC from such composers as Emma Lou Diemer and Leanne Benson.
UC rehearses three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12-12:50 p.m., in Max Noah Recital Hall. Please contact Dr. Jennifer Flory (jennifer.flory@gcsu.edu) for more information.
