Khary Wilson, Tenor, is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his Bachelors Degree from University of South Carolina where he was very active in Opera at USC and his Masters Degree from Louisiana State University in the studio of Robert Grayson. In 2011, Mr. Wilson was a Young Artist with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh and performed the roles of Remendado in Carmen, Spanish Don in “Candide” and Schwertliede in The Valkyrie Suite; One of Several commissioned one Act’s for OPT’s SummerFest called “Night Caps”. This past summer Mr. Wilson performed Andrès, Cochenille, Frantz and Pitichinaccio in “Les Contes D’Hoffmann” with the Harrower Opera Work Shop and “Simon Zealots” in Jesus Christ Superstar with GLOW Lyric Theater. Other roles include: Lindoro in “L’Italiana in Algeri”, Larry/Matt in “The face on the Barroom Floor”, Azael in “L’enfant Prodigue, Rinuccio in “ Gianni Schicchi”, Mr. Erlanson in “A Little Night Music”, Tybalt in “Romeo et Juliet” and was featured in a documentary as Sir Andrew Auguecheek in an adaptation of David Amram’s“Twelfth Knight” with the LSU Opera. He was also seen as Nelson in New Orleans Opera’s production of “Porgy and Bess." Upcoming, Mr. Wilson will perform Ferrando with Peach State Opera’s “Cosi fan tutte”. Mr. Wilson currently lives in Atlanta, GA and is excited about what the future has to offer in such a fulfilling and challenging field of teaching and performing.
