Gregory Pepetone, Director of Keyboard Activities and tenured Artist-in-Residence at GCSU received his Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin and his Doctorate from the University of Iowa. His academic disciplines include music history and interdisciplinary studies relating music to literature, painting, and film. In recent years, he has received GCSU awards for both "Excellence in Teaching" and "Excellence in Artistic Endeavor." Formerly the Interim Director of Integrative Studies at GCSU, Dr. Pepetone's interdisciplinary articles for "American Music Teacher" (the official journal of the Music Teachers National Association) have twice been named "Article of the Year." Dr. Pepetone also enjoys an active career as a touring concert pianist in connection with GCSU's Dorian Exchange Series and the Oconee Piano Trio, in which he is joined by two internationally known string players (Russian born violinist Levon Ambartsumian, Conductor of the Arco Chamber Orchestra, and Christopher Rex, principle cellist in the Atlanta Symphony). Dr. Pepetone has performed for Leonard Bernstein in Carnegie Hall and his London debut recital at the Wigmore Hall prompted Times critic, Paul Griffith to praise his "refined taste and elegance."
