Student Recitals
The B.A. Performance track requires a Junior recital and a Senior recital. The B.A. Composition major requires a composition recital during the senior year. All other students are encouraged to present recitals in addition to the degree requirements. Faculty approval is required. The Senior Recital comprises 50 minutes of solo music; additional chamber ensemble work is highly encouraged. The Junior Recital comprises 30 minutes of solo music. A pre-recital hearing must take place at least two weeks prior to the performance date. It is the responsibility of the student to reserve the recital hall, inform the jury (applied teacher, department chair, and one other applied teacher from the same area) and accompanist (if applicable). If the recital is voluntary and not listed on the transcript the faculty will approve or disapprove the recital; otherwise a grade (A/B/F) is given. If a student does not pass the recital hearing, a second chance will be given.
