Student Fees

How fees are used and what they provide:

    * Free or reduced costs medications
    * Free HIV testing; inexpensive Women's Health examinations

The Student Health Fee is $78 per semester*.

The Student Health Center is in Parks Memorial Hall (on Montgomery St.) is open from 8:15 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Most services at the Center are provided at no additional costs to the student. There is no charge for a visit and most medications and all supplies are provided free. If a medication has to be called in to a pharmacy or if a student requires referral to a physician or another facility, the student is responsible for these payments.

If a student makes one or two visits a year to the Student Health Center, the cost of the health fee has been easily recouped. For example, if a student comes in with a cold and sore throat, he/she goes away with a decongestant, cough medication, nasal saline spray, lozenges, Tylenol if needed, and a special throat gargle. All of these medications and treatments are provided at no cost to the student. The Center will even provide tissues if the student needs them.

HIV and STD testing are provided without cost. There is a small fee for Women's Health examination for birth control; this covers the cost of  PAP smear and blood work. Wound dressings and ointments are provided free. Inhalers and aerosol breathing treatments are provided free for those with exacerbations of asthma. Most illnesses and minor injuries can be treated by the Nurse Practitioners in the clinic and there are very few additional charges to the student.
